Book Cover Design

For this project, I reimagined the cover of Coraline by Neil Gaiman, aiming to merge the eerie tone of the original story with the haunting aesthetic of the animated film. I created a custom button-texture pattern to serve as the foundation of the design, evoking the unsettling charm of the “other world.” The title and author name were hand-crafted to resemble stitched lettering sewn directly onto the buttons, adding a tactile, crafted quality that reflects Coraline’s stitched reality.

To frame the composition, I added a stitched border detail that wraps around the cover, enhancing the handmade, slightly uncanny mood. The color palette remains dark and cold, reinforcing the sense of mystery and unease central to the story. Every element was chosen to capture that delicate balance between curiosity and dread. A visual tribute to one of the most iconic modern gothic tales.
